Our Foudation

Pleasant Places Childcare Foundation Objectives

    To sensitize and educate the public especially parents on common health, development, and educational issues affecting children.
  1. To advocate for improved policies and uphold children’s rights especially the right to education, inclusion, health, and social services.
  2. To provide care, support, and services to poor and vulnerable children especially children with learning and development disabilities.
  3. To contribute to an improved condition of life and living for children with learning and development challenges including but not limited to autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy among others.
  4. To create a support structure, to inform, educate, sensitize, and care for parents and other caregivers.
  5. Free assessments and observation services.
  6. Subsidized or free therapy services.
  7. Free ongoing support and counseling services.

Pleasant Places Childcare Foundation

The Pleasant Places Childcare Foundation is a non-governmental, non-profit organization which seeks to educate, advocate for, empower as well as provide care, support and services for children with physical, learning, developmental and other challenges especially among poor and vulnerable populations in Nigeria. Founded in 2013, the foundation is borne out of a desire to fill a gap in the provision of health, development and other essential services to children from birth to age 18. The organization advocates for better and effective services for children especially those with specific learning and developmental challenges especially autism as well as educate parents and caregivers on common health, development issues and learning challenges that children face with a view to building their capacity and providing then with knowledge, skills and right attitude towards prevention, treatment, care and education of the impact of these issues that children face.

Our ongoing activities include:

  1. Free Training/ Capacity building program for parents, teachers and caregivers on handling challenging behaviors in children with learning and developmental challenges.
  2. Free Foundation level training for teachers and therapists on Applied Behavior Analysis.
  3. Radio, Television and Social media awareness and sensitization program targeted at awareness and stigma reduction.
  4. Educational grants for JAMB fees payment for indigent youths and teenagers and registration for West African Examination Council exams.
  5. Free assessment and evaluation services for children from poor and vulnerable communities.
  6. Ongoing psychosocial counseling and support for parents and caregivers of children with special needs.
  7. Free or subsidized therapy for individuals from poor and vulnerable communities.
  8. Project B.L.A.S.T (Building Lives around Sound Truth): a leadership and empowerment program targeted at youths between the ages of 10 and 20 to provide them with life skills, mentorship, and leadership training via robust and fun-filled activities.
